As President of the Green Bay Art Colony — the organization that more than 100 years ago proudly helped lay the foundation for what would become the Neville Public Museum — I speak today not only on behalf of our members, but on behalf of the generations of artists, educators, historians, and citizens who have contributed to and benefited from this extraordinary institution.
The Neville Public Museum is a living legacy of our community’s commitment to culture, education, and the preservation of local history. What began as a modest effort by a group of civic-minded artists has grown into a vital regional museum, one that tells the story of Northeast Wisconsin with depth and continuity.
Today, the museum stands as a bridge between the past and the future — preserving irreplaceable artifacts and a century of history, adding to the area's cultural landscape, as well as, offering educational experiences for learners of all ages. It plays a crucial role in fostering civic pride, historical understanding, and cultural engagement.
The Green Bay Art Colony remains proud of its historic role in the museum’s founding and committed to its future. We urge county leaders and fellow citizens to continue investing in the Neville Public Museum — for the good of our region and for generations to come.
In support of the Neville Museum, I ask that you take two simple yet powerful actions:
• Contact your Brown County Supervisor
Let them know you support the Neville Public Museum and want county funding to continue. (The museum represents about 1% of the county’s total budget.) Also, ask why the Museum Director position has not yet been posted — the previous director gave notice in mid-August.
You can find your supervisor on the link below.
• Engage with and support the museum
Visit the Neville — explore the exhibits, attend a program, browse the photo archive, or participate in a group event. There is something for everyone. And, PLEASE, consider becoming a member. Your involvement matters.
If you believe that art, history, and education strengthen a community, please act. The Neville Public Museum needs your voice.
Sincerely,
Karen Kjell
President
